Fulham's star midfielder Lee Clark is rumoured
to be wanted by both Keven Keegan at Manchester City and Bobby Robson at
Newcastle United.
Apparently Bobby Robson is ready to test Jean Tigana's resolve to hang onto
the 28-year-old Geordie with a pounds 3.5million bid.
But new City boss Kevin Keegan's first job on arriving in the Maine Road
hot-seat was to contact Clark's representatives to see if he could land
the player.
Lee Clark started his career at Newcastle and was a regular squad member
while Keegan was Manager at St James' Park
After winning a Championship medal with Newcastle in 1993 he swapped to
Sunderland where he repeated the honour in Sunderland's record breaking
Championship season in 1999.
His legendary status in Sunderland hit rock bottom though when he was filmed
wearing an anti-Mackem T-shirt and he was encouraged to go to Fulham by
Paul Bracewell
Clark has stated that he hoped Fulham would let him talk to Newcastle if
they were to mount a bid.
