A dopey thief who posed as a physio to steal £19,000 worth of cash and jewellery from Premiership soccer stars yesterday dodged a jail term.

David Seville tricked a steward into letting him into the changing rooms during a Fulham v Portsmouth reserves game. He took loot including Rolex watches and designer clothes before fleeing from Fulham’s Motspur Park training ground in Surrey. Victims included Pompey’s Lomana Lua Lua.

Career criminal Seville, 24, was caught after CCTV footage of him was shown on BBC’s Crimewatch. None of the items were recovered.

Seville, of Stevenage, Herts, admitted burglary. He received a 51-week suspended jail term at Kingston Crown Court after saying his mum was ill.
