Undaunted by last weekend's defeat to his former club Liverpool, Danny Murphy has pledged his long-term future to Fulham.

The 32-year-old midfielder is enjoying a new lease of life at Craven Cottage, which he says is due to his taking up the captaincy.

Ahead of Sunday's League clash at Manchester City, a game which could help decide which of the two teams goes on to challenge for a place in Europe, Murphy said: “This is a team in clear progression and I want to be part of that for as long as possible.

“The squad has progressed massively this season. Everything has evolved, and the distance we've come in quite a short space of time under Roy Hodgson is unbelievable.”
