On Sunday Man City held on to the top spot in the Premier League after Mario Balotelli fired home from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of added time for City to beat Tottenham 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

Man Utd finished the weekend off by keeping their Premier League title chase on course, and giving Arsenal more problems, when Danny Welbeck grabbed a late winner for Manchester United to down Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

On Saturday Robbie Keane came back to haunt his former club Wolves with his first goals for Aston Villa while Liverpool's UEFA Champions League hopes were dealt a blow by defeat at Bolton.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish was seriously upset with some of his players' performances threatening them with the axe.

Newcastle were overwhelmed by Fulham at Craven Cottage in a storming comeback by The Cottagers including the first Premier League hat-trick by a USA player, Clint Dempsey.

Elsewhere Fernando Torres was off target again for Chelsea as Norwich kept their first clean sheet in the Premier League this season.

While Sunderland burst Swansea's bubble, West Brom left it late to beat mis-firing Stoke, Blackburn earned a valuable point at Everton and QPR climbed out of the bottom three.







Chelsea striker Torres drew another blank as Norwich recorded their first clean sheet in the Premier League this season with a 0-0 draw at home to the Blues.

Spain international Torres has now not found the net for 15 games - the worst run of his career since arriving in England - and missed a glorious chance in the second half having been denied by a superb save from the excellent John Ruddy before the interval.

lackburn showed good spirit to come from behind and draw 1-1 at Everton as Tim Cahill finally ended his 14-month scoring drought, before contributing to the visitors' leveller.

The Australia international was on hand to fire home from close range in the 24th minute as Rovers goalkeeper Paul Robinson and his defence were left appealing in vain for handball against Marouane Fellaini.

Cahill was then involved in Rovers' equaliser, firing an attempted goalline clearance straight at David Goodwillie after Tim Howard had spilled Morten Gamst Pedersen's lofted free-kick in the Goodison wind.

Newcastle suffered a staggering second-half collapse away to Fulham as they saw a 1-0 interval advantage transformed into a 4-1 scoreline in the space of 16 minutes, before eventually going down 5-2.

Danny Guthrie's screamer had given Alan Pardew's usually solid Magpies the lead, but they capitulated after the break at Craven Cottage, with referee Lee Mason awarding the home side two penalties.

Danny Murphy converted the first after Davide Santon was ruled to have fouled Damien Duff, before Clint Dempsey's quick-fire brace, with Bobby Zamora then firing home from the spot after Tim Krul felled Andy Johnson.

Hatem Ben Arfa pulled one back for the visitors with five minutes remaining but any hopes of a late comeback were immediately shelved when Dempsey completed his hat-trick, making him the first American to bag a treble in the Premier League.

QPR climbed out of the drop zone as they celebrated Mark Hughes' first home Premier League game at the helm with a 3-1 victory over rock-bottom Wigan.

Heidar Helguson coolly rolled home the opener from the penalty spot after James McCarthy's inexplicable handball in the box, with Akos Buzsaky making it 2-0 before the interval with a free-kick which left Ali Al Habsi with no chance as it crashed off the post and into the net.

Hugo Rodallega gave the Latics hope in the second period with a free-kick which more than matched Buzsaky's effort, curling the ball home in stunning fashion to leave Paddy Kenny with no chance at all, before Helguson's penalty after being hauled down by Gary Caldwell was saved by Al Habsi.

But any hopes of a fightback from the visitors were extinguished when Tommy Smith drilled home from outside the box to make sure of the points.

West Brom gave themselves further breathing space over the relegation dogfight developing below them as Graham Dorrans' late free-kick secured a 2-1 success away to Stoke.

James Morrison fired the Baggies in front with a long-range effort which inexplicably deceived Potters goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen, before Jon Walters saw his penalty superbly saved by Ben Foster.

Swansea were brought down to earth with a bump following the euphoria of their victory over Arsenal after a 2-0 defeat by revitalised Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Keane opened his account for Aston Villa with a brace against Wolves with the 10-man Molineux side slipping into the bottom three after going down 3-2 at home.

The Republic of Ireland international, who is on a short-term loan from LA Galaxy, fired home a dramatic late winner after earlier bringing his side back on terms with another smart finish.

The home side recovered from going 1-0 down early on to Darren Bent's penalty to take the lead through Michael Kightly's trickery and David Edwards' close-range header.

Kenny Dalglish saw Liverpool's slump continue in a miserable 3-1 defeat at Bolton, which leaves the visitors six points adrift of the top four.

Mark Davies and Nigel Reo-Coker gave Owen Coyle's Bolton a shock two-goal lead inside the opening half-an-hour and, although Craig Bellamy earned Liverpool some hope before half-time, Gretar Steinsson made sure of the win in the 50th minute.

The victory was just Bolton's second at the Reebok Stadium in the league this season and lifted Coyle's men out of the relegation zone, while adding to the questions about Dalglish's Luis Suarez-less Liverpool, who have now won just once in six top-flight games.

Mario Balotelli fired home from the penalty spot in the fifth minute of added time as Manchester City edged out Tottenham in a five-goal thriller at the Etihad Stadium.

Spurs looked set to become the first side to deny Roberto Mancini's league leaders victory on their own turf in the Premier League until Ledley King was penalised for pulling down Balotelli and the Italian substitute stepped up to beat Brad Friedel.

The previously unremarkable contest burst into life with an astonishing spell of four goals in 10 second-half minutes.

Danny Welbeck grabbed a late winner for Manchester United to down Arsenal 2-1 at Emirates Stadium and keep their Premier League title chase on course.

Leaders Manchester City had beaten Tottenham earlier on Sunday to pile pressure on Sir Alex Ferguson's men heading into the North London encounter.

The Red Devils came through the test with flying colours, going ahead on the stroke of half-time through Antonio Valencia after he nodded home a tidy Ryan Giggs cross.

Prolific Gunners captain Robin van Persie pulled the hosts level 20 minutes from time, netting a superb pass from teenage winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who enjoyed an impressive afternoon on his first Premier League start.

But Welbeck saved the day for United in the 81st minute after Valencia turned provider, allowing the young striker to slot home from close range.
