JOHN ARNE RIISE has expressed his surprise at Claude Puel`s parting with Monaco, and admitted that a new coach could lead to him reconsidering his decision to leave the club.

Puel was informed on Saturday by chairman Jean-Louis Campora that he would not be coaching the Principality club next season, and it later emerged that he rejected a different role, and Riise admitted that he may change his mind about leaving the club.

The Norwegian midfielder has grown disillusioned with life at Monaco under Puel, and the club agreed to sell him, with former boss Jean Tigana making a bid to bring him to Fulham.

The two teams have agreed a fee, and Riise admitted that he will discuss personal terms upon his return from international duty, if he does not decide to stay with Monaco.

Riise, when asked to comment on Puel`s departure, said: "I have not actually heard this.

"I still want to move in the summer, but if Monaco suddenly change their mind, then I will have to reconsider.

"If a new coach with different ideas and a different reputation comes in, I might have to reconsider my wish to leave the club."

Valencia`s former France international Didier Deschamps is expected to succeed Puel, and his standing in the French game may persuade Riise to stay, as the two have a similar, workmanlike, style of play.

Riise is se to play for the Norwegian Under-21 side on Tuesday, and he will then meet with Fulham.

"I will finish my international duties and then I will contact my agent to get some news," he added.
