Former Fulham fan favourite Sean Davis is again the subject of widespread speculation that he will be on the move from Tottenham Hotspur during the January transfer window.
As Sean has found one of the bi-products of a big squad is that some players will not get a game. And once injured players are quickly forgotten and mentally discarded.
At Spurs midfield players face competition so fierce that a solid midfield player - like Sean Davis - is a long way down the pecking order.
It seems that Davis, like Pedro Mendes, his one-time midfield partner, Noe Pamarot and Anthony Gardner could all be on the move on in 2006.
There is no shortage of clubs interested in Davis, with press reports that Portsmouth, Fulham, Everton and Middlesbrough are all after the hardworking midfield man. Portsmouth are reported to be in pole position with the arrival in the Premiership of another Russian millionaire wanting to spend big.
However Davis came up through the divisions with Fulham - and he may feel that the short move back will be a return to his spiritual home. Fulham boss Chris Coleman has stated that he would like to see Davis playing back at Craven Cottage.
Middlesbrough have gone backwards in the league this season and will now struggle to finish in the top eight. Davis is the kind of purchase to pep up one of the older squads in the division - but will Davis want to move that far north?
Everton are recovering strongly from a desperate start to the season and may feel they know how to negotiate with Spurs after signing Davis' near namesake Simon Davies in the summer.
At a rumoured £2m Davis would be a good signing for any of the mid-table sides vying for his attention.
