England Under-21s have a major injury crisis ahead of their vital European
Championship qualifier with Greece on Friday with Fulham midfield dynamo
Sean Davis having to pull out. Sean injured his foot in the weekend 1-1
draw against neighbours Chelsea.
Arsenal's Francis Jeffers is also out injured following Arsenal's 2-0 win
at Derby at the weekend.
In total five players have now been forced to quit Platt's squad for a game
England must win.
Owen Hargreaves, Titus Bramble and Seth Johnson have already withdrawn but
to date Platt has only called up one reinforcement in the form of Charlton's
Paul Konchesky.
The qualifier at Ewood Park now looks certain to be a 31,000 sell-out as
England bid to qualify automatically for the finals.
Football Association spokesman Andrin Cooper said: "Around 25,000 tickets
have now been sold for the game at Blackburn and all the signs are that
it is heading for full capacity.
"It is another indication of how much interest there is in the Under-21s
and England in general at present. "There is no doubt that a full house
acts as an additional spur to the players."
