Jean Tigana's strikeforce ran amok in last season's Division One title-winning
campaign, blasting 90 goals in 46 games and sparking worried looks among
top-flight defenders.
But the big-spending Londoners' debut Barclaycard Premiership season
has been characterised by sweet passing moves but a feeble end product
- with a goals return of just 23 from 24 games.
And combative midfielder Legwinski, who arrived from Bordeaux for £3.3million
in August, has claimed their nightmare form in front of goal has cost
them their chance of a top-four finish.
The 28-year-old, whose team are now worryingly just seven points above
the drop zone, said: "We're very disappointed about not scoring more
goals.
"It's bad for your confidence when you don't score for a long time,
as you don't think you ever will. We try to win every game, but we've
drawn some and lost some - and we've lost many points through not scoring.
"I think we would certainly have 10 points more if we had scored
more, so that's why all our players are very disappointed. We could be
almost fighting for the Champions League, even though we're not a Champions
League team yet.
"For our first year in the Premier League, our position isn't bad
- but when you see the potential of the team, it's very disappointing
to still be 10th. Goalscoring is our biggest problem and the whole team
has to work on it."
Fulham face relegation-threatened Blackburn at Craven Cottage on Saturday.
