Sylvain Legwinski supports Ginola

Fulham's
Sylvain Legwinski has waded into the row between Aston Villa boss John Gregory
and temperamental midfielder David Ginola, claiming the Frenchman is still
one of the world's best players.
The Cottagers take on the midlanders at Villa Park on Sunday, but 34-year-old
Ginola has been out of form this season - sparking a bust-up with Gregory
- and is not expected to feature in the starting line-up.
But Legwinski stuck up for his countryman, heaping praise on the former
Newcastle and Tottenham winger and insisting he is a global star with huge
technical ability.

"He's one of the best football players in the world," Legwinski
said. "When you see him play, you understand that. David Ginola is
very, very good and technically one of the best. "He's a great player.
When I played for Monaco, he was playing for Paris (St Germain) in a huge
squad with George Weah and other very good players. For him to play with
those sort of players was really impressive."
Legwinski remembers the torrid time Ginola gave him in his old club's
UEFA Cup quarter-final victory over Newcastle in 1997.
Fulham's recent £3.3million recruit, who scored against United as
Monaco won 4-0 on aggregate, said: "I played against him in Europe
when he was at Newcastle. We won, but it was very tough for me, because
he's very good. "I don't know if he will play on Sunday because I know
he's in a bit of trouble. The trainer (Gregory) has some choices to make.
I don't know what the story is with him at Aston Villa. Perhaps it's tactical,
or perhaps because they can't work together."
Legwinski proved he can be just as fiery a character as Ginola with an
outburst in Wednesday's 5-2 Worthington Cup third-round destruction of
Derby.
County's Darryl Powell accused the ex-Bordeaux player of falling over theatrically,
a claim frequently levelled against Ginola. The duo's angry off-the-ball
exchange sparked an 18-man bout of push-and-shove, with several players
needed to haul Legwinski away from Powell.
Legwinski was fired-up after netting a thumping header for his first
Fulham goal, which sparked a wild celebration.
He said of the Powell incident: "It was because he said I was diving
and I was not - and he knows that.
"It was nice to score my first goal for Fulham and I was very happy.
I had a lot of occasions (to score) when I wasn't lucky.
"The most important thing was to have scored five goals. That's
good for the future, because we didn't score many goals at the beginning
of the season."
