Sylvain Legwinski wants to stay at Fulham

last updated Friday 11th April 2003, 3:33 PM
Fulham midfielder Sylvain Legwinski is dedicated to the club's cause and will stay with the West Londoners - no matter who is in charge.

Current boss Jean Tigana is departing the club in the summer and a number of players have already hinted that they may follow him out of the Loftus Road exit door.

However, Legwinski's agent Craig Hutchinson has confirmed that his client will not be joining any player exodus.

Reports had suggested that Legwinski may be one of those to depart, but this will not be the case.

"I am extremely angry that this type of comment is being continually attributed to Sylvain and journalists quoting a player wanting to leave purely by virtue of default due to nationality is unfair to the player and to the worried fans," said Hutchinson

"I would like to make it categorically clear that Sylvain Legwinski has a contract with Fulham, and Sylvain is not a player who has ever been anything other than honourable and correct as concerns his contracts, as well as the fact that he wants to stay at Fulham. He likes the game, the place and the people.

"I think any spectator is able to see who is the last man off the pitch for Fulham and Sylvain always circles the entire pitch and thanks each supporter for his support.

"We want to put a stop to his name being linked with a move out of Fulham.

"As long as the club want to keep him, as I believe is certainly the case, he wants to remain a Fulham player.

"Sylvain - as well as being a very moral and correct guy - is a very decent human being and does not merit being a target for the xenophobes or boo-boys as a result of inaccurate or speculative reporting which flies in the face of that, which everyone can actually see with their own eyes."
