Out going Fulham manager Jean Tigana fears his exit could spark a mass exodus of players next month with eight players whose contracts or loans expire at the end of the season.

To add the uncertainty, midfielder Steed Malbranque - acknowledged as the club's best player - admitted: "We all believed the manager would stay and I most certainly have the possibility to leave at the end of the season."

The contracts of Andy Melville, Maik Taylor, Bjarne Goldbaek, Lee Clark and John Collins are up in the summer, and loan trio Martin Djetou, Junichi Inamoto and Pierre Wome could also be on their way.

Steve Marlet, the club's record signing, has also warned the fates of the French quintet of himself, Malbranque, Sylvain Legwinski, Louis Saha and Alain Goma are linked to Tigana's.

Tigana admitted his departure has thrown many of his stars' futures into jeopardy.

"The players have a big question about their futures and I don't have the answer," he added.

"They didn't say much to me in the meeting when I told them I was leaving.

"We just talked for five or 10 minutes but I've told them they must serve the club."
