Aston Villa are lining up a bargain £1.5million move for Damien Duff in the January transfer window.
Villa boss Alex McLeish hopes to team up the Fulham winger with his Republic of Ireland team-mates Shay Given and Richard Dunne, according to The Mirror.
But any move will have to be paid for by player sales, with Randy Lerner cutting costs at Villa Park.
Duff, 32, could find his place at Craven Cottage under threat from Martin Jol's desire to cut the age of his first-team squad.
Jol is rumoured to have had rifts with some of the senior players at Fulham, with Bobby Zamora the most high-profile player to feel the strain.
Duff has made just seven starts for Fulham in the Barclays Premier League this season.
