Released Fulham midfielder Wayne Collins appears
to be on the verge of signing for Division One new boys Rotherham.
The 32-year-old is a free agent after coming to the end of his contract
at Craven Cottage and Millers boss Ronnie Moore, who returned to his desk
today following a two-week break,
is hoping to beat other clubs in the race for Collins's signature.
He started his League career at Crewe after joining them from non-league
Winsford before making a £600,000 switch to Sheffield Wednesday in
1996.
After making 34 appearances during a 17-month spell at Hillsborough, Collins
joined Fulham for an initial £400,000 in January 1998.
Collins hails from Manchester and may be interested in returning north,
but much will depend on whether his wage demands fall within Rotherham's
budget.
