Collins rejects new deal at Fulham

Wayne Collins has turned down a new deal
with Fulham and could be approached by Crewe.
Crewe Boss Dario Gradi could now make a serious move for the midfielder
he snapped up from Unibond League side Winsford United in 1993 and still
regards fondly as almost a favourite son.
Collins was sold to Sheffield Wednesday for £600,000 in 1996 before
moving down to London 18 months later, yet this season has been a frustrating
one for the Manchester-born 31-year-old.
Collins made only five league and four league cup appearances as England
Under-21 star Sean Davis emerged as a regular in the Cottagers midfield,
leaving the former Crewe man to contemplate his future.
He still has a house in the North-West and always said he would like to
return to Gresty Road.
Collins fits the profile of the type of midfielder Gradi is looking for,
a box-to-box player with an eye for goal, so it is likely that the Crewe
boss will be making a bid.
