Former Fulham man Chris Baird is set to join QPR.
The Northern Ireland international, 31, looks likely to be offered a one-year contract with the option of a further 12 months.
Baird, a free agent after being released by Fulham at the end of last season, trained with his new team-mates on Friday and is expected to formally complete his move next week.
He made more than 100 Premier League starts during a six-year spell at Craven Cottage, having previously played for Southampton.
"He's a good pro and I like him. He's a good free transfer," said Rangers boss Harry Redknapp.
"He can play right-back, left-back, centre-half or in midfield. I've always liked him."
