Lancashire official Paul Tierney will take charge of Sunderland for the first time when he referees the Black Cats' FA Cup fourth round replay against Fulham at Craven Cottage.

So far this season, he has shown 80 yellow cards and six reds in 24 games in all competitions.

Fulham captain Scott Parker has recovered fully from an ankle injury and several other long-term absentees are edging closer to full fitness, boss Kit Symons has revealed.

Parker missed last weekend's FA Cup draw at Sunderland with an ankle injury but will be available for the league trip to Blackburn on Saturday.

Sean Kavanagh, who needed stitches in his knee after the FA Cup third-round replay win at Wolves two weeks ago, is on the road to recovery, while defenders Fernando Amorebieta and Tim Hoogland will resume full training next week after almost three months on the sidelines.

Larnell Cole and Liam Donnelly, who have missed the entire season through injury, are also back in full training.

Symons said: "I'm really pleased with the way it's all looking at the minute.

"Scotty did modified training on Monday, had a good hit on Tuesday, and trained very well again today [Thursday] so he's back fully fit and in contention.

"Fernando and Tim Hoogland are both doing modified training at the moment, so they're in for the start of the session, they do the warm-up, passing, some possession.

"As from next week they'll both be in full training, with a view then to the week after.

"We'll probably look to arrange some sort of friendly game to start getting them game time.

"Sean Kavanagh was running this morning as he's had his stitches taken out now. They were in for 10 days I think but there's no underlying damage, so he won't be too far away either."

Meanwhile, defender Josh Passley has joined Portsmouth on a month's loan, while Stephen Arthurworrey's deal with Yeovil has been extended until the end of the season.

Sunderland
Pantilimon, Mannone, Jones, Van Aanholt, O'Shea, Brown, Vergini, Coates, Bridcutt, Gomez, Larsson, Johnson, Buckley, Alvarez, Giaccherini, Wickham, Fletcher, Defoe, Graham.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet will be without midfielder Lee Cattermole once again for Tuesday night's FA Cup fourth round replay at Fulham.

Cattermole is facing a further two to three weeks on the sidelines after a scan revealed no lasting damage to his knee, while fellow midfielder Charis Mavrias has joined Greek club Panathinaikos on loan for the remainder of the season.

Poyet is likely to make some changes with defender John O'Shea a candidate to be rested following Wes Brown's return to training after a knee problem, and there could be chances for midfielders Ricky Alvarez and Emanuele Giaccherini.
