Fulham manager Marco Silva looks to celebrate 500th Fulham gamewith a win
Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed in his pre-match press conference that full back Kenny Tete is in contention to make the squad for Sunday’s game against Liverpool.
Tete, who has been out with a knee injury, has not featured in a squad since the reverse fixture against Arne Slot’s side at Anfield back in December.
“Kenny Tete is training 100 per cent with the team and it’s a matter of time for him to be in the squad list,” Silva said in his pre-match press conference. “He is going to be in contention to be involved. It could be Liverpool, it could be other games, it will be my decision. Soon, we are going to see him involved in the squad list.
“It’s nice to see Harry Wilson around the squad, on the grass, doing some individual work. He will be with us soon and that’s great news in terms of the wide attacking areas of the pitch, where you miss a player of his characteristics, who can help the team.”
Weeks in the Premier League don’t get much tougher than back-to-back games against Arsenal and Liverpool. The Reds are yet to taste defeat on their travels in the Premier League this season and Wednesday’s win over Everton at Anfield has them on the cusp of the title.
Liverpool have only dropped points in eight of their 30 games this season – and one of them was against Fulham back in December. Silva believes his side will need to be close to perfect to go one better and inflict Slot’s first ever Premier League away defeat.
“Firstly, the impact of the manager is always important,” Silva said. "It wasn’t just any manager that left them, it was a manager who was there 10 years with a massive, massive impact on almost everything that was built in the football club.
“Jürgen [Klopp] was a very, very important piece, and when the club went in a different direction, the impact of the manager is always going to be important. Slot has made that impact.
“For me, one of the main things about Liverpool so far this season is how they have been consistent. They have been really consistent in the Premier League. You don’t see them have too many down moments, and when they do, they are always able to react.
“It’s not a coincidence that they have spent most of the time on top of the table. We can all agree, that if nothing very special happens, then they are going to have a celebration at the end of the season.
“They are consistent, they haven’t lost an away Premier League game so far this season, which shows what I am talking about.
“They haven’t dropped many points at home so far this season, but we were one of the teams who took points from them at Anfield. It’s going to be a game that demands us to be close to perfection.
"From our side, we need to fight really hard for the three points. We are in our own battle too. They want the three points to be closer to the title, we want our three points for our own battle.
“We respect them, but let’s try to create the same environment that our supporters created last Saturday at home. That type of environment will be more difficult for Liverpool and help us too.”
