Fulham have opened talks with Steve Sidwell over a new deal at Craven Cottage.
The former Reading, Chelsea and Aston Villa midfielder has made 76 appearances during his two-and-a-half years in SW6, scoring 10 goals.
Sidwell was on target in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Brom, but is in the final 12 months of his contract.
However, boss Martin Jol has revealed Fulham have started negotiations to keep the 30-year-old at the club.
"He's done well," said the Dutchman. "We're talking to him to extend his contract. I think he wants to stay."
