Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has sent records tumbling in the Championship this season as he fires Fulham back to the Premier League.

The Serbian striker has smashed the current record for most goals in a Championship campaign, surpassing it with 12 games to spare. And he's not done yet.

The 27-year-old has proved unstoppable in front of goal, and has several records to his name, with the stats providing an indication as to just how impressive he has been.

The most important one is this; in just 31 Championship appearances this season, Mitrovic has managed 34 goals. His most recent came in the victory over Cardiff City last Saturday .

That equates to 1.1 goals per game, an incredible return, which no player in England's second tier has got near to in recent years. It is the equivalent of a goal every 80 minutes.

His return includes three hat-tricks, while the number of games he has failed to score in this season has yet to reach double figures.

On only eight occasions have Championship sides kept him at bay so far. He still has a chance to register against every side in the division this season.

He has a conversion rate of 24 per cent, with essentially one in every four shots from the No 9 finding the back of the net.

Ten of his goals have been headers - a tally bettering the top scorer of 10 fellow Championship sides - while 18 have been with his right foot. He's scored six with his left.

He beat Ivan Toney's Championship record - set in 2020-21 - in just his 30th appearance. Having added to that already, he has another 11 matches remaining to added to his tally.

It is not just the top scorers from other sides he's outgunning. It's whole clubs, too.

Of the 92 clubs in the English Football League system this season, Mitrovic has scored more goals than a quarter of them, with his tally of 34 higher than that of 23 teams across the four divisions.

At his current rate, the striker has plenty of other records in his sights. If he were to continue his form until the end of the season, Mitrovic would be finishing on 48 goals.

That would be enough to give him a new second-tier post-World War II record. The current holder is Derek Dooley, who scored 46 times for Sheffield United in the 1951-52 season.

In truth, it could have been even better for the forward, having missed one of his six penalties, Mitrovic has also squandered a further 15 big chances.

Boss Marco Silva and Fulham fans will forgive him those misses if he can continue to take others and ensure their top-flight return.
