(Oct '01

Games: 68 - W 38%, D 29%, L 32%
  • 4 wins in last 7 League and Cup games
  • Won 4 of last 9 Premiership matches
  • Drawn 1 of last 10 in all competitions
  • 4 draws in last 12 top flight encounters
  • Lost 4 of last 10 confrontations
  • 4 defeats in last 6 top division duels
  • Failed to score in 2 of last 7 contests
  • Failed to find the net in 3 of last 6 League clashes
  • 3 clean sheets in last 4

  • WON LAST 2 - 1 Prem, 1 FAC
  • LOST LAST 2 AWAY PREMIERSHIP GAMES
  • GONE 8 SINCE A DRAW - 6 in Prem
  • NOT CONCEDED IN 2 - 1 Prem, 1 FAC
  • James Beattie, who bagged a hat trick against Fulham in the reverse fixture, has scored 18 of Southampton's 30 League goals. He stands just one behind leader Thierry Henry in the race for the Barclaycard Golden Boot. Beattie is the only player to have scored in the League for Southampton this year - netting all six of the Saints' Premiership goals in 2003.
  • Southampton are one of nine clubs to be ever present in the Premier League. They are therefore contesting their 11th consecutive season and need victory from their 422nd match to take their all time points tally over the 500 mark. They have 498 at present. They're four goals away from totalling 500 in the Premier League, and two short from making it 200 in away Premiership games.
  • Victory for Gordon Strachan's side would secure a second Premiership 'double', having already beaten Sunderland home and away. It would also inflict on Fulham a third 'double' reverse. Jean Tigana has witnessed his side lose home and away to Man City and Arsenal. Southampton have their sights set on Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, with a FA Cup semi-final against First Division Watford to look forward to. The 2-0 Quarter-final success over Wolves followed a 1-0 Premiership victory over lowly West Brom. But the Saints have lost four of their six in the top division including their last two away against Man City (4-1) and Arsenal (2-1).
  • Southampton, who are four points outside the top six in tenth, aim to collect their first ever top flight away win at Fulham
