Fulham manager Martin Jol has backed misfiring duo Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent to start scoring again and fire Fulham out of trouble.

The frontmen have managed just three league goals between them so far this season heading into this afternoon's crucial clash with fellow strugglers West Ham.

However, boss Jol, who worked with the duo before at Spurs, insists it's only a matter of time before they start finding the net again.

He said: "If we play with tempo and with the rhythm we want we always create chances.

"Sometimes you start worrying with these guys, but I'm confident because if you look at their profile they always scored one in two."

Bent has failed to command a regular starting spot following his loan switch from Aston Villa in the summer.

He is yet to strike up a partnership with Berbatov, with his misses proving costly in last weekend's defeat to Swansea.

But Jol added: "Last Saturday was not typical for him because he had three or four chances and he didn't score.

"You need a bit of luck. He's very confident. He will score goals.

"If you saw the Stoke match he had one chance and he scored, that's how I know him from his days at Charlton and Sunderland.

"I spoke to Steve Bruce years ago and when he left for Aston Villa, Sunderland stopped scoring goals."
