Sunderland born Jonathan Moss was a keen footballer and played junior football at academy level, for Sunderland and then for Millwall. He began refereeing while at school and in 1999 he switched from playing football to being a referee in the Northern Counties East League and Northern Premier League, Moss was promoted to the National Group of assistant referees in 2003.
He was then promoted to the National Group of Referees who officiate in the Football League and was then promoted to the list of Select Group Referees, who officiate all Premier League matches at the start of the 2011–12 season.
The last time Mr Moss bossed a Fulham game was in October this year when we lost 3-0 away to Brentford in the League Cup. He booked three players, two from Fulham, Aboubakar Kamara in the 12th minute for a foul and Stefan Johansen in the 49th minute also for a foul
Ref Moss also bossed Fulham back in May 2019 when we lost 1-0 away at Wolves. He booked four players three of them Fulham players, Calum Chambers, Maxime Le Marchand and Cyrus Christie all for fouls.
Prior to the Wolves game Mr Moss last met up with Fulham in March 2014 when we were
beaten 5-0 by at Etihad Stadium by Man City. Mr Moss booked four players, all from Fulham, gave two penalties and sent off Fulham's Fernando Amorebieta in the 53rd minute, for a foul in the area, when the score stood at 1-0.
Over the years Mr Moss has refed eight games involving Fulham, two of them against Manchester City. Fulham have lost all eight games.
Mr Moss last refed Mancester City when they won 2-1 at against Bournemouth in the League Cup in September 2020 when he booked three players, one from Man City.
Last season Mr Moss refed 32 games and dished out 102 yellows and 3 reds, so an average 3.2 yellows per game.
Mr Moss's busiest game recently was the Tottenham away draw at Burnley in March 2020 when he yellow carded nine players, five of them from Burnley.
