Former Fulham favourite Luis Boa Morte has caused a stir in the world of non-League by signing for Hampshire Premier League outfit Four Marks.
The former Portuguese international winger cost Arsene Wenger £1.75m when he signed him for Arsenal from Sporting Club de Portugal in 1997. Boa Morte became a firm fan favourite during his time at Fulham with fans enjoying his defence terrorising runs.
Now Lisbon-born Boa Morte, 36, will be playing his football a staggering 11 steps down the pyramid for the east Hampshire club, who are currently propping up the HPL Division One having lost their first two games.
He is a friend of Four Marks manager Leighton Jones, who works as security manager at Fulham.
Boa Morte played a part in Arsenal's double-winning season of 1997/98, making 15 league appearances.
He was signed for Saints by Dave Jones in August 1999, for a fee of around £500,000, but lost his place when Glenn Hoddle took over and eventually moved to Fulham, initially on loan.
He made 17 appearances during his time at The Dell, mostly as a substitute, and scored one goal - a thunderous left-foot drive in the 3-2 defeat at Watford in December 1999.
Boa Morte went on to make over 150 appearances for Fulham and just short of 100 for his next club, West Ham.
From there, he moved to Greece to play for Chris Coleman's Larissa FC but left after just seven league appearances and moved on to South African outfit Orlando Pirates.
His last professional club was Chesterfield, where he played a handful of games on a short-term contract.
Four Marks are in home action on Saturday (August 31) against Southampton-based club Infinity.
