John Brooks started refereeing in 2004 in local leagues throughout Leicestershire, when he was 14.
Ref Brooks is a part of the Select Group 2 of full time referees, meaning that he can officiate matches at Premier League and Football League level, whilst he also joined the FIFA International Referees List as an assistant referee earlier this year.
In 20014/15 he started refereeing in the Conference League, moved up to the Football League in season 2016-17 and then the Championship in 2018/19.
Mr Brooks has only had the pleasure of bossing one Fulham game which was the 3-2 home victory over Luton in October 2019. He booked one piayer, Tom Cairney for a foul in the 73rd minute. Aleksandar Mitrovic scored all three Fulham goals
The last time Ref Brooks bossed a Wigan Athletic game was in February 2020 when he was in the middle for Wigan's 2-2 away draw at Cardiff. He yellow carded six players, three from each team.
Last season he officiated at 40 matches issuing 156 yellow cards and 5 reds, some 3.9 yellows per game. So far this season he has bossed 32 games issued 117 yellows, an average of 3.7 yellows per game and one red card
His busiest game in recent times was last week's Huddersfield 2-1 win against West Brom when he booked 10 players, six from West Brom and four from Huddersfield.
