Referee Tony Harrington began refereeing in the Teesside Junior Football Alliance at the age of 14 years old, having completed the basic referee course whilst at school as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award.
After 4 years as an EFL Assistant Referee and 4 years as a National League Referee Tony was appointed to the EFL referee list in 2012/13 and has now refereed over 100 EFL matches. He is now part of the elite Select Group 2 of full-time referees to officiate at Championship matches.
In June 2021 he was promoted to the Select Group 1
The last time Ref Harrington refed a Fulham game was in January of this year when 3-0 away at Leeds . Mr Harrington booked two Leeds players and three Fulham players, Anthony Knockaert for dissent while Neeskens Kebano and Ivan Cavaleiro were booked for fouls, Kebano was then booked a second time in the 91st minute and therefore red carded.
Prior to the Leeds game Mr Harrington refed Fulham in the 1-0 away win at Blackburn Rovers in February 2020. Mr Warrington only booked one player, Bobby De Cordova-Reid (f) of Fulham. Aleksandar Mitrovic was Fulham's goal scorer.
Prior to the Blackburn game Ref Harrington last refed a Fulham game in February 2018 in our promotion year when we beat Aston Villa 2-0 at the Cottage. He booked one player from each side the Fulham player was Stefan Johansen for a foul in the 67th minute. Ryan Sessegnon and Floyd Ayite were the goal scorers.
He also refed the
1-0 home win against Birmingham in the December. He booked two players one from each side, the Fulham player booked was Oliver Norwood.
He started the season with Fulham earlier in September 2017 when we drew 1-1 at home to Cardiff and seven players were booked, four from Fulham, Mollo (29,arg), McDonald (70,f), Johansen (71,f) and Button (82,tw)
Mr Harrington last refed Huddersfield in October 2020 when they won 1-2 away at Swansea. He booked five players four of them from the Huddersfield squad.
Last season he refed 36 games and dished out 97 yellows and
5 reds, so a low average of 2.7 yellows per game.
His busiest game in recent times was the game between Bournemouth and Watford in February 2021 when he booked three Bournemouth players and five Watford players. He finished off the game giving second yellows to a player from each team in the 90th minute.
