Referee Stephen Martin |
Referee Stephen Martin’s father and grandfather were both Football League officials and encouraged Steve to take up the whistle in 2002.
Mr. Martin’s rapid rise saw his appointed to the EFL assistant referee list in 2008 and to the National League referee list in the same year. After four years he became an EFL referee and has taken charge of over 150 games and is now part of the Select Group 2 professional officials.
The last time Ref Martin was in charge of a Fulham game was the 2-1 home win against Rotherham
on the 13th December 2016
Ref Martin has bossed Fulham one other time this season in a 0-0 away draw at Wigan in September, he booked a player from each team including Denis Odoi of Fulham for a foul.
Mr Martin last reffed
Reading in their 1-1 away draw at QPR in October of this year.
Last season he refed 38 games and dished out 83 yellows and 5 reds, so a low average
of 2.2 yellows per game.
This season so far he has reffed 22 games and dished out 54 yellows,
a below average 2.5 yellows per game, and just 2 reds.
Earlier in December this year Mr Martin reffed the Nottingham Forest v Newcastle
game which Newcastle lost 2-1 and Newcastle fans were not happy so they "trolled
" him on Twitter unfortunately a number got the wrong Steve Martin over in
Hollywood.
