Referee Andy Davies, former player with Portsmouth, Gillingham and Yeovil had to stop playing through injury at the age of twenty-eight so turned to refereeing in 2003. He has made rapid progress and reached the National List in August 2012 and since then has refereed over 100 EFL matches.

In 2016 he became part of the Select Group 2 Referees and will now be employed on a full time basis

Mr Davis has avoided Fulham so far this season but did boss us five times last season, twice in the League Cup and three times in the Championship. There were three wins, one draw and a defeat, which was against Bristol City in the League Cup

The most recent of his games, last season, was the 4-1 away win at Play Off rivals Huddersfield, in April 2017 when he booked Fredericks and Odio for fouls.

The other games he refed were 2-2 home draw with Blackburn Rovers, in March, in in which he booked Fredericks and McDonald for Fulham, both for fouls, and also four Blackburn players.

Prior to that game, back in January, he refed our 2-0 home win over Barnsley in which he booked two players both from Barnsley.

And before that, back in September, he refed our 2-1 defeat by Bristol City at The Cottage in the third round of the EFL Cup when he booked Joronen for a foul, and then in August in the 3-2 away win at Leyton Orient in the First round of the League Cup when he booked teenager Dennis Adeniran for excessive celebration after scoring the opening goal.

The last time Ref Davis bossed a Barnsley game was in August of this season when they were beaten 3-1 at Bristol City. Mr Davis booked three players, two of them from Barnsley

Last season he officiated at 38 matches issuing 136 yellow cards and 4 reds, some 3.6 yellows per game, just about the average. His busiest games was Ipswich v Brighton with 7 yellows and one red and Cardiff v Aston Villa when he issued 8 yellows.

This season so far he has reffed 16 games and has issued 61 yellows, an average of 3.8 per game, and just one reds. So he is waving his yellow cards slightly more than last season. His busiest game so far was the 1-1 draw between Brentford and Derby back in September in which he booked five Derby players and three Brentford players.
