Referee Matt Donohue |
Referee Matt Donohue started refereeing aged 14 and gained promotion to the EFL list of assistant referees in 2014.
He operated in the EFL for two seasons before hanging up the flag and concentrating on refereeing in 2016. Matt gained promotion to National League North and South in 2016 then to National League National and Premier League 2 in 2017 and then to the National Group EFL League One and Two in 2018. He was appointed to the new elite Select Group of full-time referees to officiate at Championship matches in June 2019.
Mr Donohue has never had the pleasure of refereeing a Fulham game before.
Mr Donohue has only refed one Hull game which was back in August in 2019 when they won 2-1 at home to Reading. He booked two players from each team.
Last season Mr Donohue refed 37 games and dished out 135 yellows, so an average of 3.7 yellows per game, and a slightly above average 7 red cards. This season so far he has refed 21 games and booked 85 players, an above average 4 yellows per game, and issued 4 reds.
His busiest game in recent times was the game between Crewe and Plymouth in August when he yellow carded three Crewe players and five Plymouth players. He had an interesting time in the October 2-2 draw between West Brom and Charlton when he tried to send off the wrong West Brom player and then granted Charlton a controversial last minute penalty.
