Referee Lewis Smith moved up to the National League four seasons ago in 2019/2020 and is now in his first full season as an EFL referee having been promoted in the summer, he did have some experience last season of refereeing in the Championship, League One and League Two.

Mr Smith has only refed one Fulham game before and that was the League Cup game away at Ipswich which we won 3-1.

Mr Smith has never refed a game involving Aston Villa.

Last season, 22/23, he refed 34 games and dished out 107 yellows and one red, so an average of 2.9 yellows per game. So far this season he has refed 33 games and dished out 126 yellows and 5 reds, so an average of 3.8 yellows per game

His busiest game in recent times was the Stoke vrs Leicester game when he booked four Stoke players and three Leicester players
