Fulham manager Kit Symons was disappointed not to capture all three points after his Fulham side drew with Cardiff on the Championship's opening day.

Fulham were heading for victory courtesy of Matt Smith's header at the start of the second half when Craig Noone made it 1-1 with a 25-yard beauty four minutes from time.

Fulham manager Symons admitted his players were disappointed not to open the season with three points.

"The changing room's a bit disappointed not to have won it, which is a sign of the expectations within our ranks," Symons said.

"Overall a draw was probably a fair result but at 1-0 we had one or two very good chances to win it.

"I'm disappointed not to have won it but I was pleased with the performance."

But Symons said he wants to see his team carry more of a forward threat as the season develops.

"We're not the Harlem Globetrotters, we're not here to just look nice," Symons said.

"I want that end product, more shots on target, more crosses into the box and more goals.

"We've got some talented footballers and we're always going to have that nice play in central areas but we want more of a cutting edge."

Cardiff manager Russell Slade on Craig Noone's equaliser said "We've been waiting for that one.

"Craig does it so many times in training but we didn't see it last season with the success we wanted.

"Pilks (Anthony Pilkington) got the nod above him to start but Craig's come on and made a point - and that's the reaction you want.

"I felt we deserved a point massively on the balance of play and the opportunities created, and their keeper Andy Lonergan was excellent."
