Fulham Boss Kit Symons wants to bring Chris Baird back to Fulham on loan.
The West Brom defender racked up 165 appearances during his six-year spell at Craven Cottage before being shown the door by Martin Jol in 2013.
Fulham have the joint-worst defensive record in the Championship, having shipped 31 goals in their opening 17 games, and Symons is scouring the market to bring in reinforcements.
Baird, who can also play in midfield, helped Burnley to promotion from the Championship last campaign but has featured just a handful of times since his summer switch to the Hawthorns.
Symons is a big admirer of the Northern Irishman, dubbed 'Bairdinho' by Fulham fans, and is keen to add the versatile 32-year-old to his squad.
He said: "If we can bring someone in who will strengthen us I will do it."
