Referee James Linington can claim that every match in the EFL is an overseas appointment, requiring the short hop over from his home on the Isle of Wight.
He is a very experienced referee having refereed in the EFL for 9 seasons and this season he has joined the new elite group of full-time referees to officiate Sky Bet Championship matches, titled as Select Group 2.
Mr Linington last reffed Fulham on St. Valentines Day when we beat Nottingham Forest 3-2 at Craven Cottage.
He booked three players two were from Fulham, McDonald and Madl for handball and a foul respectively.
The other time Mr Linington refed a Fulham game this season was the 2-2 home draw with Norwich in October 2016. He booked Aluko and Malone for fouls. Parker for disent and Johansen for "arguing" with a Norwich player. Malone gave away TWO penelties.
The last occasion Mr Linington reffed Newcastle United was back in 2010 in an FA Cup defeat by West Brom when he booked four players, all from Newcastle, and he sent off a Newcastle player in the 71st minute.
Last season he refed 26 games and dished out 74 yellows and 4 reds, so 2.8 yellows per game. He was below the League average of 3.1 yellows per game and was also below average for red cards.
So far this season he has refed 26 games and dished out 114 yellows, an above average 4.4 yellows per game, and 3 reds.
His busiest game so far this season was in Reading's 1-0 home win against Huddersfield when he booked six players, four from Huddersfield and also sent off another Huddersfield player for a second yellow.
