Player description
Simon Davies is currently Fulham's longest serving player and the Welsh midfielder has enjoyed a truly memorable few years at Fulham.
Davies' wide range of attributes as a player, combined with his whole hearted approach and high energy levels, make him a valuable asset for Fulham.
Davies was touted as one of the most talented footballers of his generation when Spurs took him to White Hart Lane in 2000. He went on to make over 100 appearances before a brief spell at Goodison Park.
Life at Everton did not turn out as he would have hoped and a move to Fulham in January 2006 reignited his playing career. Davies provides pace, industry and superb assists from either flank. His form was recognised on the international stage when he was appointed captain of Wales.
Davies was the Club's outstanding player during the 07/08 season and won the Player of the Year Award by a landslide majority.
The midfielder retained the same levels of consistency and form during the 08/09 campaign. Ever present the versatile Welshman scored against his former club Spurs during Fulham's 2-1 win over their London rivals in November 2008.
Unfortunately Davies was ruled out through injury for the season's finale but returned to full fitness at the start of the 09/10 campaign and captained Fulham for their Europa League clash with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria.
Unfortunately Davies suffered injury frustration during the first half of the 09/10 season but made a return to full fitness in February 2010, marking his successful comeback from injury with a goal in Fulham's 5th Round victory over Notts County.
Davies was truly outstanding on his return to action, scoring a stunning goal against Hamburg at the Cottage to set Fulham on their way to the Final of the UEFA Europa League Final.
During the Final in Hamburg on May 12th Davies scored another wonder strike to bring the game level in the first half. His two goals in the latter stages of the competition will never be forgotten and provided the perfect tonic for a player who endured his fair share of injury frustration.
In August 2010, Davies signed a new contract with the Club - keeping him at Craven Cottage until at least the summer of 2013 and the Welshman was a constant presence in Fulham's starting eleven last season, with 32 appearances.
On the 26th August 2011 the Club confirmed that Davies would undergo a minor operation on his right knee, with a an initial prognosis of a 3 month rehabilitation process following surgery.
