Whilst waiting for the start of England’s match against Albania, which I expect them to win 5-0, it occurred to me that Fulham are a strange team and I wonder why. On the odd occasion we look like world beaters which is quickly followed by awful performance against teams struggling against being relegated. I have watched Nottingham Forest a couple of times and have been very impressed by the way they play and have justified their current position in the Premier League and yet we have completed the double against them. I wonder why. I watched the nightlights of their game against Ipswich, who snatch a draw against us. Forest swarmed all over them from the first whistle and when they attacked they were lightning quick and got six men in the penalty area before Ipswich could get defenders back to mark them. When Ipswich made an occasional break Forrest normally always had two men challenging the man in possession. We very seldom attack from the start and when we do it scares the life out of the opposition. Unfortunately, this is far too rare, I wonder why? Is it because our manager fears losing or are players not fit enough to play 90 minutes plus, I wonder why. I often consider too many of our players are coasting and need to make a greater effort. As other posters have pointed out, we have thrown away more than twenty points this season, many from winning positions, I wonder why. I do not wish to appear critical, having seen my first game in November 1939, or so I was told, but certainly I remember attending many games during WW2 when teams would benefit from guest players who might be in the services and station in your region.

My apologies, I thought Tuchel would make a difference. I was wrong!

No other country in the world plays friendlies and qualifiers looking like they will win every tournament by a landslide. Only England fans hold England to the such ridiculous standards for lower games.

Boring, boring England. Just goes to show a new broom doesn't always sweep clean and nothing changes. The damage was done under Southgate and TT has work cut out to change the mindset of the same old players(Henderson ???) .

I apologised in advance, otherwise too many people would have shot me down. However, Albania are ranked 65th in the world whilst we are ranked fourth and we were playing at Wembley. Tuchel does not appear too happy at the performance of certain players and there will be changes for the Latvia game. The demise of Foden, who hardly touch the ball, has been significant and there must be question marks over his future. I thought that we reverted to Parker ball instead of fast incisive play which was needed against a poor side who just frustrated a slow English attack. The game against Latvia, ranked 140th in the world, will bring changes and hopefully a more fluent attacking formation.

tuchel has had one game-ONE GAME!.to make any judgements now is just not on. albania came and parked their bus. they had no other intention other than to play as much as possible in their own half, and to a certain extent, they succeeded.

It is difficult at any level of football to get players to give more than they think they need to give to win a match. Equally if a player has run from one end of the pitch and back again they may be tired no matter how fit they are as 95 minutes is a longtime to keep moving constantly.

Just a reminder, my original post was “I wonder why” and unfortunately, I made a forecast on the game against Albania. No one commented on the article which was about Fulham.

England were absolute garbage last night, and the new broom is certainly not sweeping clean. there was a time early in the match, when we must have had over 50 passes between us, and we gained about 10 yards, and we spent more times passing backwards than forwards. Why is it, that we all have great hopes for England, but once they are playing on the field, it is the usual rubbish. I hope that Dan Burn enjoyed his England introduction, as it will probably be his first and last appearance, and as for Rashford and Foden, what on earth has happened to these once talented lads ? In my humble opinion, I have more chance of winning the lottery, than England have of even reaching a final, let alone winning it. Back to the drawing board.

LTS, I always enjoy your comments and although, on this occasion I consider you might be overly harsh. However, I for one agree with your sentiments but most posters were aggrieved when I mentioned similar comments in a more kindly manner. It was Parker ball at its worse with slow over elaborate build ups without gaining ant advantage. Of course you are correct regarding certain individual players and I expect four or five changes against Latvia who, in theory, we should thrash. I was impressed by Thomas Tuchel pre-match comments that Southgate was scared of losing and was not adventurous enough to win tournaments. He was also mildly critical of the team after the match so I expect he will inform the players that their international futures are on the line. Unless the mindset of our players cannot be changed then we will only progress so far and always end up losers. My son, an avid Fulham supporter, often travels abroad both with Fulham and England to watch away matches and about ten years ago he stared he did not expect to live long enough to see England win the World Cup. He is now 50 and his comments are very akin to yours. We need a broad spectrum of views on our board which sometimes I believe is lacking so, please post more often with your comments.

Excuse the typos in my last comments which is due to this stupid predicted text which changes the words that you actually type.

The last time England lost in a qualifiers was 2007 and brolly-man- Steve McClaren was the unfortunate fall-guy who got the bullet. These early stages are rarely enjoyable and we almost morn for prem games but i think there was a little something of interest coming from last nights game. I like to see great movement in games and i would like to say that if that peach of a pass from Bellingham to Myles Lewis Skelly was created at Fulham, i would have spoken about it for a week, the pass was exquisite superb. I think Scott Parker would like to finish a move like that after 20 boring passes and if you can pull it off no team and staff will complain. I also think the goal from kane was top draw and you have to be decent to play and score that many goals in the German league. This is the difference between a top striker and a average one. Most target-men would have pulled the trigger without thinking about it but Harry Kane has learnt that timing that brings out something extra. Lastly i think Tuchel needs more technically minded players than Dan Burns etc, i know he did well but he and others will get turned and bamboozled by the more technical and tricky players.
