Sure it was disappointing to drop points again but more disappointing is ESR. He is woeful. Marco has been so good with his transfers but this guy, a record signing, is crap. Arsenal must be laughing the heads off.

As usual 6min of extra time means ten if the home team are losing,as for reed , he reminds me of a wrecking ball that some times makes contact were he should not.but again not a chance in hell getting in europe to many point dropped by being just sloppy, not enough on the bench its so light weight if you lose a couple of players we are in trouble and so revert to five back line three c/b nah !!!! dont work on a fast moving team ,so with our run in we will be mid table and make a couple of million place money and then look at players for three months just thinking about them but buying ???? iffy question that coyw . see our ex hatchet man got a straight red for munich.
Replies
If extra thing happen in extra time extra time becomes longer, simple, but it does not become longer so we can score.

Thats not the point ,is it AB?? i mean, that as long we play the ref as per will reckon there is more time added on ! seems a joke to me, oh well heads down and into the wind i say,,

Pedro went in like a bull in a China shop looking for the penalty as soon as he wedged himself in between our players of course contact occurred and he leapt like a salmon into an incredible dive the CHEAT. I was timing the added five minutes and by my watch the penalty was awarded well after the announced 5 minutes of overtime. I agree with another poster on this board who said a klaxon should go off after the announced time ending the game. The referee even had the cheek to restart the game after the penalty to make it look like he hadn’t allowed too much overtime and blew up at nearly 10 mins of overtime. I’m surprised Marco didn’t mention it in his post match interview.

Having watched the game, albeit on a large television, I turned to my wife and said it was not a penalty. Pedro came from behind and barged his way between Harrison Reed and Andersen and took a knock in doing so and immediately fell to the ground. I have watched the replay six times and if you do likewise, you will also note Smith Rowe’s reaction in waving his finger and shaking his head immediately clearly indicating what he thought. In my opinion, Pedro took a dive and conned the referee. It would be interesting to find out how often Pedro has gained penalties. My second point, which I have mentioned on a number of occasions this season, is referees always playing longer than the allotted stoppage time. Five minutes stoppage time was announced which should mean five minutes not 8 or 10 which referees have been allowing when the home side is seeking another goal. I suggest the F.A. Should introduce a klaxon to signify the end of stoppage time whereby the referee must blow for time. Thirdly, Harrison Reed is no longer a Premier League player and is a liability. I agree with Owen that Cairney should have come on as substitute in order to slow the game down and his ability to pass the ball out of defence. Once again, some of the players did not perform to their capabilities when we were the better team in the first half.
Replies
It looks like a penalty to me under the present regulation. No matter how much or how little Reed touched him it is a penalty, the fouled player throwing himself down is the norm, our players would do it in the same circumstances.

Watching the extended highlights on Sky. The penalty incident happened seconds before the 95th minute and after VAR and the usual faffing about 98 minutes had expired. The big miss yesterday was Lukic not TC
posted by mwk (Guest) - Sunday 09th March 2025, 3:05 PM

AB, yes a penalty was given but the foul was contrived by Pedro who barged between two Fulham players and was caught by HR heel as he attempted to clear the ball. I refereed for 35 years and having watched the incident 6/7 times I am convinced it was a self inflicted foul.it might be useful, if anyone has the time, to check to see how many times Pedro has earned penalties for Brighton.

Didn't you just know that would happen in the dying seconds? No need for Reed to poke his 'nose' 'er' his foot in because the ball was drifting out towards right anyway no need whatsoever! I am not the manager but i just think that the introduction of Tom Cairney might have nullified the onslaught of our own making i must say. Why must we give the ball away from a clearance time and time again i don't know. Yes we miss Lukic today and i think Berg needed him more. I commented on Castagne and his vulnerability to pace and quicker players and i think Garnacho last week would have given him a more torrid time if he had 90 minutes. Again i think Castagne is found wanting and we need Tete back asap. It is easy to single out Diop who panics in a clearance by kicking the ball anywhere in the middle of the park to bring on more pressure that we don't need. The more of the ball Brighton had would be only a matter of time before they made a breakthrough. As much as i like the combative Harrison Reed i just think that his introduction was not needed or helpful against a Brighton that are dangerous on the ball and we didn't help ourselves by giving it back to them when we have it. I hate the game stats that say Brighton had more of possession than we did and they are not Liverpool. Just annoyed for giving them 3 points when they don't deserve it today. Just chalk this one of and move on. Smith Rowe needs to do more, much more

I thought we were defending very for the whole game apart for two disastrous mistakes that gave the game to a team we had not allowed to have many chances. We score a brilliant goal then gave them the game. Very sad, another match we must learn lessons from before it is to late. One point, what is the point of playing three center halves when we only have one wing back?

Two of the softest goals of the season. This was as bad or worse as the West Ham throw-in. Another point dropped. Diop was worse and worse as the game wore on - so slow-footed.

Shame, but did not do enough to win it. Serious mistake by Harrison Reed is very unusual.

That wasnt a point dropped, it was 3 points given to our closest rival. I agree your point about Diop but he only plays ocassionaly and is not renound for his ability on the ball. What does concern me is the negativeness of Berge. Apart from being asleep he slowed down every single counter attack that went through him.

Why didn’t the referee blow up after he announced 5 mins of extra time and 5 mins was played. That is unacceptable there’s no point in the referee announcing how many minutes he’s adding on if he intends allowing the game to go on until the home team scores. He should have realised he had played more than the allocated 5 minutes and not given the penalty the commentators said the player went looking for it anyway. Then he tries to justify the extra extra minutes by allowing the KO after the penalty and play to resume. He may as well have allowed another 5 minutes. Making it 15 extra minutes in total.

Although we like to think that we are going to win or draw every match, we just don't, and neither, apart from Liverpool, do any other clubs in this very competitive Premier League. Yes, today's result was very disappointing, but it's a case of we must take it on the chin and move on. We have v a difficult set of fixtures coming up, and we must hope that a couple of injuries to some major players are healed soon, and more important at this stage, we can see off Palace in the FA Cup quarter final, and we must forget trying for a European spot, as we haven't at present, a strong enough squad, but it will happen soon.

Another set of points thrown away. How can a player have so much time and be unmarked to equalize, and then the 96 th minute penalty, schoolboy stuff. Too many misplaced passes and second to balls. Diop didn’t have a great game, but at times put under unnecessary pressure by dodgy balls (Leno, Anderson etc). Brighton were there for the taking, and as per usual one goal not enough. Robinson was bad today, not only Diop, but too many ineffective and lack lustre. Hopefully we can turn over Spurs next week, but they are below us in the league…..

An extremely cagey first half more akin to a game of chess with both teams failing to carve out any real chances. However, after 35 minutes Iwobi raced sixty yards down the right flank and crossed to the far post where Raul, despite close attention of two defenders, chested the ball down and volley past the keeper. Six minutes later Brighton equalised through van Hecke who was allowed to run unchallenged to score with a fine header. The second half will be testing and we desperately need another goal.

Hello and great respect to Bigboy and all Fulham fans and to freedom of speech and lets keep our Fulham site healthy and thriving. Not retired yet but maybe in a few years at 65. I am still in dreamland fr beating Man Utd and winning a penalty shoot-out to see us through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. It was a hard-fought battle of a game and the extra half-hour was a killer so i am not expecting us to thrash Brighton and a battle of the Alamo tomorrow. Saying that, we still want to beat them, draw, and put up a good performance, whatever the result. Marco usually likes to put out the same 11 week after week, alternating between Jimenez or Muniz and using Diop depending on injuries at the back. Maybe a freshen up with the likes of Tom Cairney in midfield to try and keep-ball might be a good idea to repel the anticipated Brighton attack and they are a team just like us who like to attack. Maybe the introduction of Willian who is relatively a fresh spritely specimen of a player at the ripe old age of 36 can be introduced from the get-go? Sessegnon Godo and the youthful Josh King are fresh and ready to go and why not? My negative thoughts and pessimism have changed in the last few micro-seconds and if our great leader decides that we need a freshen up, these players are ready willing and chomping at the bit to play against Brighton. Did i say lose to Brighton? 'Do you expect me to talk??? No Mr Bond. I expect you to WIN!!! COME ON FULHAM!!!!!!!!

Would like to say that it is well documented that we have a healthy and strong squad of players to call from but what they say in the media is debatable. A large majority of Fulham fans still think we need to strengthen and that may be the case if Jimenez and Muniz don't deliver goals galore. With only ten games remaining, i can't see those two scoring hattricks and braces to bump up their goal tallies and it looks like Marco will pursue his hunt for another young striker in the summer. Muniz i think is a really good prospect for the future and he will get better and better and we shouldn't sell him. Jimenez has done well and the best he can do given the circumstances of his well documented injury and i think he will play out the rest of his career so far at Fulham doing what he is doing now and thats it.

Yes, Marco has his first eleven these last few weeks, based I think around Bassey and Andersen in defence, with Sander Berge and Sasa Lukic further up, all being the spine of the team. But I do think Sessegnon deserves a start. An allrounder who can defend and break to score. I think that will be important at Brighton.

I am retired and therefore I have sufficient time in the evenings to indulge in flights of fantasies as oppose to other contributors who are working and cannot spare the time. I do not know if Owen is retired as he also has a fertile and creative mind which, I for one appreciates, as many others do. Other posters help to keep this Board going so, to those who are critical I say “be careful for what you wish for”. We have lost too many posters due to various criticisms and jibes so, please think before you aim barbs at other posters.

You are of course right bigboy, respect for your fellow mans opinions, and contributing your own thoughts is the old way. Seem to remember the saying " I disagree with what you say, but I will fight for the right for you to say it" Being frightened of voicing your thoughts in a constructive way, means losing your freedoms earned over generations of people suffering to achieve these freedoms. When leaders of major nuclear powers , feel it is ok to hurl abuse, threaten repercussions as a way forward, without this respect leaves us all less safer. My previous post was a gentle note to a Brentford fan suggesting that they had exited the FA Cup. But I do hope that if we can't win the cup then Bournemouth, Crystal Palace or Brighton can, this new name on the trophy, will give their supporters as much joy as me if FFC could win it.

Agree - 100% for freedom of speech and right to voice your opinion, so long within the decency and due respect boundary. Sadly, I think Trump has taken the freedom of speech to a new level and a very dangerous one for someone with such power. Equally, while Trump has taken the right to say what he likes, he dislike anyone else doing the same, especially if their opinion is not in his favour. With that, how i wish we have a moderator who can filter what comes out of Trump's mouth!

Only socialists ban things, it helps keep the gravy train on track. Socialism is basically a pyramid scheme and they eventually run out of victims they can milk dry to keep it going which results in them losing an election or, in the land of Johnny Foreigner, a bloody revolution. The British have always been too complacent to revolt and likely never will because they’re a dying breed.

First of all let me congratulate the team on holding their nerve in the penalty shoot out with Leno finally guessing the right way to dive in saving United’s last two penalties. However, at half-time I posted it was a boring game only brightened by Bassey’s brilliant goal, almost a replica of his previous one. The second half we conceded the initiative to United with Fernandez scoring with a great volley following a cross from the left flank. Generally, the game then lapsed into another period of boredom with neither side prepared to lose it rather than trying to win it. The extra time followed a similar pattern despite my shouting continually at the television screen to no avail. I felt that too many of our players not putting in a decent shift with the exception of three or four of our players. Both Traore and Iwobi failed to inspire although, the former did managed to make a few decent crosses. Smith Rowe, apart from one decent shot left me wondering why we paid £30 mln for him as I have seen little evidence ,so far, that this was justified. It is just my opinion and no doubt many of you will disagree. After another 30 minutes torture, with my dinner perched on my lap due to my wife forgetting about extra time, I suffered a death by a thousand cuts fearing a penalty shoot out which we could not possibly win. Having finished my dinner, I took up a defensive position behind the settee with my cat perched on my shoulders to keep me posted on what was happening. The first six penalties were expertly dispatched with Willian being coolness personified as he casually rolling the ball home. Then Leno became a hero, especially for those hardy supporters who had travelled up to the stadium of dreamsI, when he went the right way to save the fourth penalty. It was then that my cat leapt from my shoulders and hid herself on the floor which indicated that Robinson had been nominated as Fulham’s next penalty taker. My wife came into the room to see why a deadly silence had descended from myself and my cat when she looked up at the television to see Robinson standing over the board. She let out a scream and fled the room. Now, ever since we acquired Robinson, I have only seen him hit a shot over the crossbar and could not believe that he had been nominated as a penalty taker. What appeared a lifetime we were greeted by a chorus from the Fulham fans acclaiming his name. Both of us popped our heads above the settee in time to see the replay of the penalty which Robinson, with all the confidence in the world, calmly placing the ball into the corner of the net. With everything riding on the shoulders of then fifth United penalty taker, he found the pressure too much and placed his kick, without conviction, which Leno had no trouble in saving. Relieved and elated I poured myself a wee dram and gave my pet a helping of her favourite food. At the end of the day I made Bassey my man of the match with Leno not far behind. Too many of our players failed to play to their ability and we will need to improve if we want to advance further and this is not negativity just being realistic.

or Bournemouth v Fulham. This would mean one of the four unfashionable teams who have not won the FA cup would have their name on the trophy. Their supporters have been hoping for many years for this. I can think of another team, knocked out of the competition that would enjoy the accolade Maybe next year.

The only day they can play all four matches on the Saturday because of other commitments of the Clubs. BBC and ITV are not keen on this idea. Watch this space. 11.30, 14.00, 16.30, 20.00 is possible. Our match being a London affair you can bet we would get the late slot.

Amorim is under real pressure at Man U but I remember years ago Arsene Wenger said ‘Never take over a bad team’. And Amorim should have remembered that. Thats why Slot has done well at Liverpool. Fulham fans moan because we don’t get much credit or mention in the press, but the press feature Man U because it’s just an accident waiting to happen. There’s too much pressure on their players, whereas Fulham players look to be just enjoying themselves. The spirit in the Fulham camp seems very high.

As long as our manager is not bribed to join them. When ever we get a decent youngster, player or manager they get bought for big money. What might save us this time is that Man U has overspent trying to buy success and are now in financial difficulties.

Over many many years, I have witnessed some remarkable displays by some great goalkeepers, including some of our own, but some of the saves made, by the Liverpool keeper Allisson tonight, defied logic, as they were incredible. Liverpool was so awful against PSG, but one touch by Harvey Elliot saw them coming away with an away win, and with their luck after being totally outplayed, the title is now a forgone conclusion.

Leno allows us to win games we would not otherwise win, though less often now we have a terrific defence. Liverpool's keeper has to make lots of saves however as the opposition gave Liverpool no space and moved the ball from front to back quickly. It is not long before we play Liverpool again and I am sure Marco will learn from that. All good teams score late goals, by bringing on fast subs to take advantage of tiring defences.

Of course Craven is entitled to mention Allisson’s outstanding performance which kept Liverpool in the game and eventually won by the late goal. I see no problem discussing subjects of interest.

It is a football subject and of course acceptable. One of the difficulties of being a Fulham supporter is because we never win anything worth having it is tempting to have second team to support who do win things without usually admitting. Of course the point being made is if you keep the opposition from scoring, no matter how poor your midfield and striker are playing their is always a chance you can sneak a winner.

I would be very disappointed if we continue our cup run and end up loosing to Manchester City in the final. Even worse of course we end up being beaten by Preston in the Semi-final. I hope really that we get to the final and best who ever we play. That triumph follows finishing 3rd in the table. That is perfectly possible, but the possible is not always possible. We deserve glories luck as this Club has so little to boast about in its long history.

Last night showed the way to beat Liverpool, it is about time we started consistently beating a young and not very good Chelsea, Bournemouth are overperforming and we can either attack them or defend them off the pitch. I am as optimistic as I have ever been about such matches as this season we have been producing our best performance and getting our best results against the to teams. We will probably beat those three and lose to Southampton.

When Robbo stepped up before Willian i really thought this was it, over and out but Robbo picked his spot and scored one of the coolest penalty ever. We all expect Robbo to hit row Z when he lets one off. Was surprised when Zirkee missed and from hero in the last minute of our opening game and now zero, we are in dreamland with a home advantage against Crystal Palace who we owe one. Marco should know by now that we have to mix it up a bit after a win and it was a hard fought win against Wolves. Not many players bring their 'A' game after a tough away like that and Traore was pants in this one. Lukic i thought could have stayed on but Marco rang the changes and Smith Rowe i thought was unlucky with a clever pass shot Onana just got to it. I think that Pereira is better coming on as a sub and he reverts back to type with his usual ineffectiveness but he did manage to put one over which eventually landed to the excellent Bassey who put it away like a good forward would. Aren't we glad that there is no African nations to lose Bassey. Iwobi wasn't his usual self and he was one who Marco could have hauled off instead of Lukic for fresh bodies. Castagne is a big weakness down the right side when he comes up against quick guys like Garnacho who will roast him for dinner all day long and if we had lost it their winner might have come from that side but all this is say-so and history and the history books is saying that we are through to the next round to a rampant and in form Crystal Palace who soundly beat us at home last time out. Marco Silva did not have any answers against Palace but the cup match is a different game and i am confident that Marco will sit down and work out the puzzles of what went wrong against Palace and how do we beat them. Mateta who was a strong handful is out of action for Palace me-thinks and maybe this will help us to further progress even closer to that elusive Cup Trophy...

We have become efficient penalty takers. The technique of getting the keeper to dive then pushing it the other side works consistently. It is catch 22 for the keeper as he knows if he does not dive the penalty takers can slot it passed each side of him. His only chance is when he dives the taker is stupid enough to kick it the same way as Man U did.

A great win and we held our nerve better than Utd. As a matter of fact, Robbo took the 4th penalty after Willian's kick. I also was anticipating Robinson putting his effort into row Z and was pleased he didn't.

Well who expected us to win a penalty shoot out for a change, but the lads did it this time. I'm happy to have received a home draw, but Palace might be harder to beat than United, but we have score to settle with that lot. We didn't play to well against a poor United side, who can thank their keeper for going to extra time. My MOTM was Bassey, not nobody had a really bad game.

A boring first half with the ball spending too much time in the air and just as I was settling for a 0-0 half-time a touch of magic from Bassey. Tactically aware and running at speed he was the first to react to the bouncing ball to head home a brilliant goals almost a replica of his previous goal a couple of weeks ago. Fulham must not sit back and try to hold on Fiordland 45 minutes but show initiative and take the game to United. Another goal is needed.

If Marco is saying that, that is good enough for me. I won't deny a lack of confidence about this game and winning because Man Utd always seem to turn up like a bad penny as the saying goes but hey' in Marco we trust! Whatever team Marco puts out everyone will give it their best shot and that includes Smith Rowe if he passes fit. To be honest, players who were criticised one week always come back and have a good game the following week and that seems to be the pattern and normal now. You name them, Muniz, Traore, even Pereira, they all have bad days and good ones. One example of a player who is capable of delivering the most beautiful and sublime peach of a pass you only see in World Cups is Adama Traore and if he can buck the trend and bring his 'A' game again two games consecutively, the football world will raise an eyebrow and take notice. Adama Traore in a nutshell sums up a squad of players that have ability but don't always bring it to the table. It would be amazing if Traore and all players turn up and perform to the high standard against Wolves away, that is what we want to see. Marco Silva was appointed in July 2021 and it is amazing and a surprise that his enthusiasm for the job is still high. The norm for most managers these days is two or 3 years and then burn-out they are sacked! If anyone can pull off an unlikely away win against one of the jammiest team that score late goals and break hearts, Marco is your man. What will it take to pull this off tomorrow afternoon? It will take a monster monumental effort away again and every player to turn up two weeks in a row. In Marco we TRUST.!!!!!!!
Replies
He can prove it by putting out what he considers his best team and overpower Manchester United, which we are perfectly able to do. The players must remember they are Manchester United, not a poor team in the bottom half of the table, who have won this cup many times. Physiology for the Fulham team must be perfection in attitude as well as the way we play.

Is this America now? These two don't represent America! I won't go into details, not worth any more time here. Trump is the worst president America could have and even sleepy joe Biden would be a better and more compassionate president from his sickbed. I just cannot believe the news conference from Trump and his thick side-kick is unbelievable. Any country sucking up to these people who say they are standing up for America are fooled by the biggest and greatest deceiver right now on the planet and his name is Trump, nuff said!!!!!!!

I’d suggest you watch the whole thing. The greasy little grifter has had his Harris handed to him and it was a long time coming. Boots on the ground for us brave Europeans to defend freedom now. Form an orderly queue outside your local army recruitment office. Luckily we’ve got hundreds of thousands of well nourished fighting age men chomping at the bit in the nation’s four star hotels who’ll be happy to do their bit for Blighty, desperate to show their gratitude for us taking them in.?

‘You have no cards in your hand’. Trump seemed to forget that Ukraine was invaded and they are fighting for their very existence. Wasn’t it he who screamed ‘Fight! Fight!’ when he was shot at? Now he seems to be saying ‘Give in! Give in!’

Owen, you cannot be banned from this site although, there is an unknown source deciding to delete various posts. Both MST and myself have seen our postings recently deleted which begs the question why your post did not suffer the same fate. I consider the Trump and Vance muppet show in the White House was disgraceful and has done irreparable damage to America’s standing in the world. For the leader of of the free world to berate another leader who is fighting for his country very survival in this manner is contemptible and many countries will see Trump as a typical school bully. Like most bullies he will get his comeuppance as voters realise the damage he is doing their country, both at home and abroad.

Yes, that was a complete disgrace in the Oval office yesterday, which followed Starmer's shocking performance the day before. Watching him squirming in front of Trump was so very uncomfortable, and made our government look oh so weak. A lot of the trouble though came from Trump's sidekick Vance, who seemed to stir up trouble in both meetings. Even Trump seemed to follow what he said, like a lapdog.

As many of you know, I did not exude confidence before the match but I was proved wrong in a match which was straight out of Alice in Wonderland. In actual fact I missed the first goal as I was busy pouring a cup of tea. However, I was in time to see the replay and was amazed at the simplicity of the movement. Pereira found Sessegnon in a wide position on the left flank, with a delightful pass which he collected in his stride, cut inside calmly shooting across the keeper into the far corner of the net. The coolness of the move, and the calmness of Sessegnon were a joy to behold. Wolves duly equalised but Fulham had a couple of chances but failed to capitalise on their early goal, timed at 59 seconds. With the score level at half-time the doubts once again flooded my brain as Wolves were still very much in this game and how many times have we conceded goals in the second half. Within seconds of the kick off Traore hit a wonderful pass inside the defender which Muniz, running at speed collected in his stride and with the keeper rushing out he calmly dinked the ball over him to restore our lead. I am willing to bet that these two Fulham goals were the quickest from the kick offs ever recorded in the Premier Division. However, the second half saw Wolves in the ascendancy but our defence were magnificent thwarting most of the attacks, mostly skilfully but occasionally with an outstretched leg. It was a long 45 minutes but riveting to watch. Once again our supporters were in fine voice encouraging our players to give that bit extra. Interestingly, Marco make several changes following our abysmal performance against Palace and I was pleased to see Sessegnon once again enjoying himself and justifying his selection. Despite Muniz getting man of the match, for me it was a great display of teamwork and any one of half a dozen players could have won the award. Even Andersen had a good game but unfortunately, we have now lost the services of Lukic for two games having accumulated ten yellow cards. In future, I will leave forecasting to the eminent Soothsayer.
Replies
Marco's most clever move was to mirror the Wolves formation which gave us lots of space on the wings and four players to exploit it. Wolves tried to exploit the wings as well but did not have four players of the class of ours. The most splendid thing was the five changes made did not in any may make us look worse, in fact most of the so called reserves had brilliant games. We have a squad ousting with glass, one of the best in the Division thanks to Marco's great skill in improving players beyond recognition.

TTIN,I agree but at the end of the day it is down to the players to implement his plans. If some of the players don’t feel up to it on the day then plans go awry. This has been particularly noticeable in our games against Palace, Wolves, Southampton and Ipswich.

Just musing if Palhinha wants to come back to the premier league - should we take him back? Bayern Munich would probably accept a 50% lost on him so he could be available for say £25m. Should we consider if opportunity arises to sign him back? Berge and Lukic are doing great but we don’t have a decent backup, and Reed is probably not the same level. So I’d take him back for next season if he’s available.

Palace are in great form and they are proving tough to beat. Who could have imagined a 4-1 win for Palace against Villa? That is a thrashing in my eyes and i think we should stop now beating ourselves up at the loss to them. 2-0? We look to have improvements in this team now going forward. Sessegnon has always had that control and psychic for running into those areas at the right time. This is not something you learn from a manager and if it was every Fulham player would be doing it every week. Muniz scored one of quality and it was a peach of a build up and pass from Traore. The only problem is i think Muniz knows he is decent and he now has a swagger about him which tells me that sooner or later he will want more and he is ambitious. We could have a problem keeping him just saying...

TTIN, sometimes such as the Summer break, news is in short supply and there is no harm in introducing a debate on other subjects which are serious enough and pertain to events which affect the majority of us. Personally, I am tempted to discuss the deranged views of Trump, Vance and Musk who are screwing Ukraine by making them to repay for the aid provided by the previous administration. Just as the UK had to pay for equipment during World War 2 which took us 50 years to repay. Unfortunately, I neither have the time or inclination to express my feelings towards the present incumbent of the White House. Just saying.

Marco is so good at making ordinary players play like brilliant ones. The disadvantage of this is other clubs will seek our best players in the summer. To counter this we have become very much stronger in keeping players here but we also have a fantastic buying team who will find good players to replace any that leave. The main problem is if we get into a European competition we will need a larger squad so we will need to anticipate what we earn from the competition to pay for them. It is all very complex but the Club has become excellent in many ways to fully support an excellent manager.

I wouldn’t think I’d be saying this even a few months ago. I will eat my humble pie. But I hope the club is working on extending Muniz’s contract, which only has another 18months to run. He’s probably our lowest paid player bar a few kids. He’s becoming a hot property and he’s many instinctive reaction for goals makes him a rare striker in the current days. We must not let him run down his contract. Sell him for mega money this summer or better still, get him on a long contract before we have to pay silly salary to keep him.

Marco was ever so subdued when we played Palace and a perplexed Marco is not what we want to see. Tonight Marco showed his brilliant best in tactics, substitutions etc. What a brilliant switch to play Traore left for that excellent goal and build-up involving Sessegnon Traore and exemptional finish from Muniz, i always say Muniz is quality and some don't see it. Sessegnon 'knows' instinctively where and when to run and he is a better finisher than Robinson every day of the week and what an excellent finish from our so called washed up Sess at the very old age of 24, are you guys for real? sess is only half fit and if he is given more chances and time, he can and will be a major component for us. We don't need anymore dribblers, we need composure and the finished article and Sessegnon has that in his locker. Robbo is still our number one left back and we need both him and Sess for tactical manouvers. Lukic picked up his final yellow which was coming and out for two vital games. Berge and Lukic tend to get caught out by quick footed players and they both need to watch it but other than that this win was a fine one and we worked hard for it away to Wolves. Crystal Palace showed their quality again and it was a convincing win against Villa who were flying at the start of the season, who would have predicted 4-1 against Villa.
Replies
A very different game where we had to defend and attack on the break which we performed brilliantly. The period after our second goal Wolves nearly attacked incessantly but we defended very well indeed. I thought the Forest game was our best game of the season but this beat it for the tremendous defending. The subs brought on all did there part and Marco tactics of playing three centre backs mirroring Wolves was brilliant. A really great win, lets hope this has broken our losing to poor teams bad habit.

Hand on heart, when I saw our line up,I had my doubts that we would get even a point, especially after that dreadful showing on Saturday, but then they surprise us all, by putting up a good display, and coming out with an exiting win. What delighted me more than anything, was the much criticised by some fans, Anderson, plaing a blinder, and he could well win the MOTM, but both Troare and Muniz could just beat him to it. It was nice to get our revenge from that 1-4 defeat at home. Now on to OT on Sunday.

Unfortunately, my memory is scarred by previous meetings at Molineux and I fear for the worse..in September 1959 we beat Wolves 3-1 at the Cottage which gave me bragging rights at work. However, the return match prove disastrous with Wolves winning 9-0 with Deeley scoring four and five other players chipping in a goal each. Surprisingly, we had a good team with Macedo in goal, Cohen , Langley, Mullery, Stapleton, Lawler in defence and Leggat, Hill, Docherty, Stokes and Johnson comprising the forward line. Returning to work on the Monday was highly embarrassing. Fulham will need to be on top form to get anything from this game and after Saturday, I sadly lack any confidence.

Thats Carlton you are referring to, of course. Actually, as a player for 5 Premier League clubs and capped 18 times by England before he became a manager, his opinion would probably be worth much more than most, including Cole’s, anyway!

If we play how we did against Forest we win if we play like we did against Palace we will lose. We seem to lose to all teams below us in the table. Of course soon if this keeps up there may not be many teams below us in the table.

I just watched Silva's Wolves pre-match interview and I can understand why our players are so confused. I know he's Portuguese, but he rambles on so quickly that I found it difficult to follow. Maybe the players have the same problem and they just switch off, the same as me.

Unfortunately we’ve seen all this before. This lad is the ‘badger’s nadgers’ with confidence and workrate coming out of every orifice. His ‘knowledge of the club’s trust’ should not come into it: we should be pushing for his signature on a lengthy contract. Harvey Elliott is about to win his second Premiership winners’ medal and looks good for a Champions League gong too. Happily for Harvey, the grass was greener. He was a Liverpool fan, which probably came from his father, a big influence to a teenager – so when the Bin Dippers came in for him, they probably didn’t have to try too hard. I know The Hammy End are ‘not too fond’ now of Harvey but I just see wasted potential. Fabio Carvalho went off to pastures new and fell flat on his face at first. This lad was a personal favourite of mine and I wish him the best of luck now at The Bus Stop in Hounslow – I’ll say this quickly and only once: a well run club with an excellent nurturing manager. Both Fabio and Josh respectively were and are on fire when playing in a white shirt. We come back to my expression ‘wasted potential’ – let’s save ourselves 15-25 mil and develop this lad. If we PROVE the club’s trust in him by offering a decent contract and playing him more regularly, one day we may have another statue in the Stevanage Road, even if he’s a closet Gooner. COYW!!!

Absolutely agree. What's the point of an Academy if these kids have no pathway through to the senior team. As Glen states, why develop players for so called big teams to poach. I think Silva is a blocker manager and it would not be surprise me if King doesn't sign a mediocre contract and his agent will state "hold on son, you can do better than this" and he will be off, like Carvalho, Elliott before him. The Club seems to run the Academy like a benevolent society, for the benefit of others, not us.

The very poor Luke Harris at 18 years old was offered a long term contract until 2026 with an option for a further year on high wages simply because of rumours that circulated at that time that Chelsea were looking to sign him for 30 million which was what it was a rumour but benefited the boy with high wages and a long contract. Harris is a regular sub in division one with Birmingham and will be back from his loan in the Summer. This boy was hyped up to be the next big thing based on goals scored at U21 level. He has no chance whatsoever of making it in Fulham’s first team and is now 20 years old. Josh King and Martial Godo are the now and future of the club and need to be nurtured and rewarded and not be sent on loan.

And what’s mad MWK both the U18s (with games in hand) will be joint top of league and the U21s steam roll most teams. The pathway for u21 players in the other teams is so much stronger than Fulham’s

West Ham’s 18 year old Ollie Scarles at left back has cemented a regular starting place in the first team and played the full 90 minutes v Arsenal with his third man of the match in a row. Marco appears to give 20 minutes at best to our most talented young players even when the older legs in midfield are struggling

Last season Marco watched the U21s dismantle Tottenham 4-0 in the premier league cup final. Not one of those players got promoted to the first team. If they win the league and or more cups the players must wonder why they bother if they have no chance of development under Marco. Many of these lads are 19/20 with no experience of mens football

It’s the manner in which you lose. Even the most hardened, die hard fan, does not realistically expect their team to win every game. However, they do quite reasonably expect them to approach every match, with commitment and a desire to do their best. Others have highlighted those that lack the desire that their inflated salaries demand,so I’ll just say, there are too many strollers in this team, getting by with the minimum of effort.

Most of season players have done well and worked hard this season mistakes have been made but there human. Can even forgive them for first half Saturday for being poor and losing control as ref was so bad. But after a break and chat with manager to come out and play so bad as if they had given up already was hard to take second goal was so poor half hearted tacles no desire

From the sublime to the ridiculous in the space of a week. Words are sometimes inadequate to describe events which defy logic. Yesterday, witnessing the game, which started promisingly for us as we pinned Palace in their own half for the opening ten minutes. However, what followed was unbelievable as the team imploded leaving Palace to capitalise on our continual poor passing, extremely poor defending and the players giving the impression they rather be somewhere else. Perhaps, with it being half-term, they considered they should be at home helping to look after their children whilst their womenfolk went out for some retail therapy. I have expressed my concern regarding Andersen on a number of occasions and yesterday we saw another example of why he is becoming a liability. His petty feud with two Palace players started just before Palace were awarded a corner and instead of concentrating on the corner he appeared distracted, resulting in mistiming his jump glancing the ball into his own net. Palace were carving through our mid-field whilst Eze teased and tormented our defence. We were fortunate to survive a further goal, courtesy of VAR decision before Palace scored a well deserved second goal. In this case Lemo was at fault. Caught in a squat position at his near post when, if he had stood up he would have not conceded. All in all this was an abysmal performance, of which the team should be ashamed. The club should reimburse all the fans that came to support them as they paid to see a match which they did not get. Smith Rowe once again was absent again and has sustained an injury which will probably keep him out of action for a couple of weeks. Any hope that Owen had of us achieving a European place must now just be a pipe dream must now be laid to rest. For me, this performance was totally unacceptable and the team should be made to watch a video of the game every day so they can appreciate why the fans feel cheated.

Not for the first time this season a string of poor/wrong decisions from the officials pushed the momentum Palaces way. The most critical error led to Their 1st goal. This together with the inability to shut down the excellent Eze led to our downfall and obviously a very poor performance to boot. Next time Marco come out flying and not sit back to have the pace of the game dictated by the opposition. Palace and the ref nullified any energy we had and fundamentally ruined our afternoon,

I am afraid irrelevant things like the referee can upset players concentration as to do in any sport, you must empty your mind of anything that spoils your performance. That could have been the problem, but after a match the players do not know why they tried badly.

Ted, why do you keep on about Marco leaving us for Spurs, as I have more chance of winning the lottery than that happening, as he has in no doubt seem determined to stay here to finish the job he has startetd. Plus of course that, no manager in their right mind, would want to take the Spurs job. In a couple of seasons time, if the Khans do not back Marco to the hilt with new signings in the summer window, then maybe MS, might have second thoughts. If we don't progress over a couple of seasons, I will expect you Ted, to turn in your ST, and you won't be alone in doing that, as there are plenty of teams around London and Sussex, who will be grateful for our funds.

Owen is right in that in any sport or game you must analyse why this happens and of course fans can to the same thing with very little relevant evidence and a biased viewpoint to come to the wrong conclusion.

I don’t understand the statement” He knows how much the Club trust him”. If that is the case, will the Club offer him a contract with substance and will Silva play him, I’m not so sure. Young players have no place in his side unless the’re Brazilian. The Club didn’t work their magic on Carvalho did they? they have previous when it comes to contract talks with our academy players.
Replies
A club like Fulham will have a smaller squad with the best players it can afford, fit and ready now to be on the team sheet. We can’t take too many expansive gambles on young players, and we likely have to sell them if a club with a bigger budget comes in for them with a juicey offer. I think that sums up the situation with Fábio Carvalho who, having been bought speculatively by Liverpool, didn’t quite develop there as they had hoped.

That was a shocking display against Palace. The buildup was far too slow and, when at last there was a forward pass, it was usually misdirected or miscontrolled. Against the ‘lesser’ sides we just seem to think we will score without too much effort. Leno would be a very good keeper if he was 3 inches taller. As it is, he’s a little too short. The second Palace goal - what was that about? The threat first appeared to have gone as Munoz had taken the ball wide. Then he fires from a narrow angle over Leno’s head, can you believe. And that’s not the first time his reach has let him down.
Replies
Thats my point also Jeremy. Our slow deliberate buildups starting from Leno doing the creep forward doesn't always work. It worked perfectly against Forest simply because we managed to play keep-ball for the most percentage of the game but Palace didn't allow us that. We got bullied and out-muscled and out skilled which is a concern. Teams going forward will always look at our way of playing and visa versa and against Palace was the day we got found out. I studied Marco Silva pondering and thinking what to do next and he looked very perplexed and thoughtful more than usual. Let's be honest, Marco's usual self is a man with agitation and passionate on the touchline but he was a lot more subdued more than usual. To tell you the truth when Hodgson was in charge and Zaha was at Palace we had a torrid time against them. They have an handful of tricky players we just could not deal with and we can learn lessons for future reference. The stand-out highlight that made the afternoon a little more jovial was Andersen indicating the time to hurry up, that was funny. One tricky player against is usually enough to contend with but Palace have 3-4 guys that can turn you. Will Hughes is a shewd operator and he was worth the money they paid for him from Derby. Sometimes the way to win a midfield is to go like Hughes and the mind-games do work sometimes...
